This morning I am reminded again that God can be trusted with my life.

the LORD will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore. Psalm 121:8

Whether I can see the outcome or not I can trust God to work for my good.

Personal Reflection on the Sermon: The story of Mordecai was a difficult one for me to study and speak on. I struggled to find the relevant principles that can be taken and applied to present life. I had my own preconceived notions of what the passage was about and then began to study it and realized that those notions were wrong.

As I dug into the text I wanted to steer the principles of the story to line up with what I thought people should learn. Instead I had to let the text speak for itself and I doubt that I completely succeeded in that. One thing I did come to accept was that the book of Esther is challenging because it really reflects the messiness of life. It tells the story of God’s people living in captivity and the struggles of remaining faithful to God while having no control over your life.

In that messiness is where most of us live and we struggle to see God working. I don’t think it was a mistake that God isn’t mentioned once in the book of Esther. If anything this book should remind us of the daily struggle to “see” God working in our lives and the difficulty in trusting him to work for our good as we try to remain faithful in every way possible.

I would love any comments regarding the sermon or the passages of scripture.
